Ruth Succop Conference 2019

”Exploring the Impact and Healing of Trauma Through Ethical Practice”.

About this Program

This workshop will focus on the traumatic impact violence has on the individual, family and community. Participants will be able to identify trauma symptoms and gain knowledge of the neurological and physiological implications in clients with exposure to recent trauma as well as unaddressed trauma. The crisis intervention model will be explained and demonstrated through the lens of suicide and homicide screening; including ethical issues and recommendations for documentation.  A review of applicable empirical work will be integrated, along with frequent clinical examples and targeted role-plays utilizing culturally competent and ethical interventions.  A review of brief cognitive behavioral therapy and creative modalities will be demonstrated to significantly reduce the risk of post-traumatic stress disorder for those exposed to trauma.
