WTA - Wound Treatment Associate Course Autumn 2019


UPMC ET/WOC Nurse Professional Development Team is proud to present the Wound Treatment Associate (WTA®) Program; an educational program provided by the WOCN® Society and is geared toward non-specialty licensed wound care providers.

This continuing education program, prepares a non-WOCN certified nurse to provide optimal care for patients with acute and chronic wounds under the direction of a WOC specialty nurse, WOC APRN, or physician. Upon successfully completing the program, the participant is eligible to sit for a certification exam through the WOCNCB.

Topics covered include: A&P of the skin, skin & tissue Loss, physiology of wound healing, Establishing wound healing protocols, wound assessment and documentation, guidelines for topical therapy, and arterial, venous and neuropathic ulcers.

The WTA® program opens on September 1st  and is a continuing education activity offering 24.0 contact hours upon completion.


Accreditation: The WOCN® Society is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Participants are to complete 13 self-learning modules and attend two classroom days: A learning day (exam prep & clinical skills) and testing day (exam & clinical skills competency).

To register for this class, UPMC employees must have been selected by your hospital wound care nurse.

Registration: includes access to learning modules, course materials, continuing education credits and two days of classroom instruction.
