Weekend Prenatal Childbirth Class with UPMC Horizon

Prenatal classes and other select programs are CANCELLED

UPMC is committed to the health and safety of our patients, visitors, and staff. To decrease potential spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and to limit traffic throughout the hospital and other classroom locations, we are discontinuing all prenatal classes and some other community education classes effective Monday, March 16, until further notice. Refunds will be processed as soon as possible. The credit card companies can take several weeks.

Instead of in-person prenatal classes, we are offering a free online learning program on childbirth preparation, breastfeeding, and newborn care. Click here to register for this free e-class. Thank you for your understanding as we work to lessen the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in our community and especially for our expectant mothers, new mothers, and infants.

This two day course is offered on Thursday evening for three hours and for six hours on Saturday. It offers the same content as the four-week Prenatal Childbirth Class.  Thursday night class covers relaxation skills, comfort measures and breathing techniques and a hospital tour of the Birth Place. The Saturday class information includes Signs and stages of Labor, pain management options, what typically happens during the hospital stay, and post delivery period of mother and newborn care.  The cost of class is $60 and includes refreshments on Thursday evening, lunch on Saturday and a gift for the Mom-to-be.
