Total Joint Replacement Class at UPMC Mercy

This class includes what to expect with your hip or knee replacement surgery and your recovery. You will learn: how to prepare for surgery so you are at your best, exercises you can complete before your surgery, post-operative nursing care, pain management, prevention of post-operative problems, and discharge planning.

Clinical staff from Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, and Case Management may join us to discuss how to prepare for your upcoming surgery. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions. By planning ahead, you can take an active role in your recovery and make your transition to home easier.

Class is offered once each month. Pre-registration is required.

The class is free. Patients may bring one family member or caregiver with them. Reduced rate parking is available in the UPMC Mercy garage, which is handicap accessible. Free valet parking is also offered at the main entrance to the hospital.

With questions, please call 412-232-7510.

NOTE: Please register each person who is attending, so we have an accurate count. To create your account, please register the patient first (log in is located in the top right corner). Next, add your family member by clicking, “Add an additional family member” on the “Step One: Create Your Account” page. Please use your full name when registering (rather than a nickname.) After you and your family member are listed in your family account, you must add both of you to the class to complete the registration. Thank you.
